Since our Skiff launched it has travelled to many different locations both near and far. She’s travelled to local regattas such as Findhorn, Portsoy, and Golspie to name a few and has travelled further afield for long distance rows to Glasgow, The Great Glen and London.
Have a look at our trips below to see more details of where she has been.
Skiffie World Championships
Stranraer July 2019
15 members of our club travelled down to Stranraer to compete in the SkiffieWorld’s. We met up with 55 clubs from around the UK and a few clubs from Canada, Australia, South Africa, Holland and the USA and we came 31st in the World.
We competed in a number of different races in varying conditions, from flat calm water in the sunshine to bouncy conditions in the rain. 6 of our crews got through to the repechage (semi-final) and 2 of these crews got into the finals and came 10th in the world in their category.
We all had a great week in Stranraer, staying in caravans we rented thanks to the funding we received from the Burghead Boxing Day Swim. We met up with each other each night for some team games and lots of laughter. Stranraer were wonderful hosts and the amazing community spirit of coastal rowing was present the whole week.
Golspie Regatta May 2019
Golspie held their first regatta in May and although it was a little breezy and chilly our club had a great time. We won our first medal of 2019 by coming 3rd in the women’s open. It was a very close finish with only 3 seconds between the first and third place.
Findochty Boat Launch April 2019
The coastal rowing community is a close one and we always try to support each other. One of the ways we do this is to join the celebrations of a new boat launch.
Findochty launched their second skiff Morven in April on a beautiful sunny day. We were joined by other local clubs on the day to welcome her to the water.
Roseisle Beach Remembrance Event
We were honoured to be asked to take part in the Pages of the Sea nationwide event on Remembrance Day along with our neighbours Findhorn CRC. The sea conditions were perfect to allow a beach landing and a view of the sand portraits and stencils before the tide poignantly wiped them away.
The Great River Race London
Our Skiff went on the long road trip down to London to take part in The Great River Race in September 2018. The event attracts many boats from all over the world to compete in the 21.6 mile race up the river Thames.
Our crew had a fantastic time rowing under some iconic bridges and were very pleased with their time too.
Lochindorb Away Day Lochindorb, Moray
The weather was kind to us, we had a picnic lunch and there was plenty cake to go round. It was a great chance to explore somewhere new with our Skiff and share the experience with our fellow Skiffies.
In August 2018 we organised a day out to Lochindorb for a few of our local clubs. We held some races, did some dressing up and got to explore the ruins in the middle of the Loch.
Portsoy Regatta July 2018
We returned to the Portsoy regatta for another year and were treated to an amazing weekend of weather and good company from many fellow Skiffies.
We didn’t return with any medals but we have lots of happy memories with friends.
Castle to Crane Glasgow
We have taken part in the Castle to Crane row each year since it started in 2017.
The event starts at Dumbarton Castle and follows a course up the river Clyde up to the Finnieston Crane in the heart of Glasgow 13 miles later.
The crews who have taken part in the event have loved the atmosphere of the event and enjoyed seeing Glasgow from a different perspective.
Great Glen Adventure Fort William to Inverness
The trip took a while to plan but it was worth it as a great time was had by all. It was good to experience something different in our Skiff.

Our Skiff had a long weekend away
in May 2017, navigating the locks and Loch Ness. We were also joined by some rowers from our neighbours Findhorn CRC.
